The one thing most of us battle on a daily basis, especially when the temperature drops, is chapped lips.  How do you recommend we heal our lips after they are chapped and how can we prevent it in the future?

Well, like anything, don't get behind! Keep hydrated internally with water, avocado, olive oil, fish oil, flax oil. Externally on the lips, apply cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut oil, or beeswax. Stay away from petroleum based balms as they don't let the lips regenerate! If your lips are already chapped load up on all of those things above much more often. And ALWAYS have a humidifier going in your bedroom. Moisture from every angle!

 What do you recommend for dry cracked hands?

A really rich but penetrating cream during the day. Something with soothing ingredients like oatmeal and calendula. During the night, apply a great concentrated shea butter to your hands and apply gloves on top (if you can and it doesn't bother you) you'll wake up with beautiful hands.

Any additional tips for caring for our skin during the winter months?

In winter, it is important to not get behind. You really have to do double duty if you do get behind. Take tepid showers. No hot water please. Since it is difficult in the winter, if you must take a hot shower, I'd recommend applying an oil BEFORE your shower or bathe and after as well! And always use a humidifier! These extremely simple things will keep you battling dehydration all winter (and year) long.

 Is it important to where sunscreen during the winter months?  What do you recommend for sun protection?

YES! We are getting bombarded by UVA and UVB rays 365 days a year. Everything that bothers people as they age is most likely from the sun! With that being said, I do recommend getting your 15 minutes of sun a day to help with vitamin D levels in the body. I ALWAYS recommend a zinc based sunscreen. If it is too whitening for people, look for a micronized zinc which is better than nano particles. 

Zinc is great as it not only protects from UVA and UVB but it also is anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial.

 I know your skin care line is predominately facial, but what is the best way to keep our all of our skin hydrated?

I really believe what you apply on your face should continue down to your toes. That might seem indulgent, but you then get the best of the best ingredients on the skin. But a must is after a shower or bath with the skin slightly damp (and only patted dry), slather an oil - preferably Jordan Samuel Dream oil - onto the skin. It'll keep the water locked in to the skin and give you that great cushiony feel. Internally you should be loading up on omegas and oils- fish oil, flax seed, olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil etc. And water! Also keep the humidifier going all night long.
